Benit Fuel Sales and Service, Inc., was founded in Brooklyn, NY in 1928. Originally the company was an Ice, Coal, and Heating Oil company. The founder was Louis DeBenedittis.

After the death of Louis in the 1950's the company was incorporated by two of the founder's sons; Rudy and Louis DeBenedittis. The pair expanded the area of operations to include Queens, Brooklyn, Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

During the last 30 years Rudy and Lou have expanded from a local fuel and coal company, to a large, diversified marketer of petroleum products. The company's current business units include:

• The original full service retail home heating oil company serving Nassau and Suffolk counties.
• Our wholesale gasoline division that supplies gas stations and marinas in the five boroughs of NYC, Nassau and Suffolk counties under the major brands of Texaco, Gulf & Getty.
• Bell Petroleum, our Texaco Aviation Fuel distribution unit covering the east coast from Maine to Virginia.
• Areo Power Unitized Fueler, which manufactures the only patented and UL listed above ground secondary containment tank. Areo tanks are available nationwide for all your storage needs.

Both Rudy and Louis DeBenedittis are deeply involved in the local community on several fronts. The areas of involvement include: Both Rudy and Louis are charter members of the Rotary Club of Nesconset, for which Louis servers as the current president. Louis is also on the board of directors of the local YMCA, as well as, the Suufolk County Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

The company's future has been strengthened by the addition of two family members as the front line managers for the varied businesses conducted under the Benit Fuel umbrella. Louis B. DeBenedittis is the Director of Marketing for Benit. Louis is Lou's son and has been with the company for the past 5 years. He is point person for all new business and general marketing strategies. Michele DeBenedittis is Rudy's daughter, and she fills the role of Personnel and Administrative Director. Within this position, Michele handles all office administration and employee matters. The company has diversified to meet the changing market and is advancing strongly as it moves into its 68th year of business.
